Well, it’s been a while since I posted here....Sorry about that!

I moved house. Which was...challenging. We decided in January to start looking for a bigger place, found one we liked, made an offer and got the keys in March, the day before lockdown so... yeah, we couldn’t move in until July.

This turned out to be somewhat of a blessing as the new house was in MUCH Worse shape than we thought and there has been a lot of work needed on it. Yeah, I bought a money pit. We’ve still got a lot to do but are at the stage now where we need to wait on the money coming in from our old house before we can do anything else. We had decided originally to buy before we sold because we thought it would be less stress. Oh, poor innocent us.

We finally got our old house on the market in August and we have now accepted an offer On that with the new people hopefully moving in November. So, 2021 will be filled with more home improvements. Joy.

I’m trying to focus on the positives of the new house; it’s much bigger, it’s in a better area, we have a garden. But it’s hard when there’s so much money we still need to put into it and the house is very obviously not that well built. I live in fear of what we’ll uncover when we start the more invasive works.

But, hey, given what’s going on in the world, I really, really can’t complain.

I have a roof over my head, my job is safe. I spent a few months working from the dining table but we reopened the office to a lower occupancy level back in June (I work for a social housing provider and that’s an essential service) and I was one of the first ones back so normality has been in place for a while now. George is a supermarket worker so he’s been an essential worker this whole time.

But, I digress. Basically, between home diy, the stress of moving, the stress of work, the anxiety and panic that has become crippling during this whole pandemic...I’ve not been very up for anything. I’ve not been writing and, holy shit, I miss it. I miss my SGA friends. I’ve still been reading but even commenting has seemed like a chore and I hope I can build some of my fandom friends back up again.

As of today I am making a concentrated effort to get my fandom happy place back. I hope all of my fandom friends are doing ok and I‘M sorry for going AWOL!

It is SO good to hear from you! I’m glad things are going well for the most part. I really feel you on the cost of renovating. In the last 5 years, we’ve spent thousands of dollars on a rebuild of the second house on our property. I would have rather set to it with a match 🔥
I am also missing contributing to fandom. I have one new portrait of John Sheppard that I posted recently, and that has been it in the last 6+ months.
[personal profile] squidgiepdx and I have just been through the fires that ravaged the west coast of the U.S.
not much rattles me, living through earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, but I was terrified during the worst of it. We started to evacuate, but there was quite literally nowhere to go, so we hunkered down at home for the worst of. We are in the clear now, thanks in part to a really impressive thunderstorm. I’ve got an idea for Romancing McShep so hopefully I can start contributing to fandom again.
I hope we can see some new fic from you soonish. I have really missed you.
