At the end of last year I made a rec list of my favourite McShep fics of 2016. I’ve decided to make this an annual thing.

Here’s my list of favourite fics posted in 2017 - thank you to all the wonderful creators still posting in this fandom!

Waiting For You - brumeier - (2,002 words)

Rodney was sure he'd never find his soulmate, not after what happened with Kolya. But then, things never go quite as planned in the Pegasus galaxy.

The Merits of Soft Sciences - velocitygrass (2,824 words)

Rodney accidentally takes John to a conference for researchers and their partners.

Rodney's first book signing, after two years, is at John's bookstore.

In which Rodney is a tutor for the Sheppard family on the Frontier, Molly the nag is his second-best friend, and John the outlaw sleeps in the stables and sneaks up on Rodney in the dark.

John and Rodney are finally getting married, and their wedding weekend is full of all the usual elements: unexpected guests, family angst, sexytimes, fun with friends, and dealing with a malevolent ghost.

John finds out that there’s a vampire in Atlantis the day after they’ve stepped through the gate.
He finds out that the vampire in question is Rodney McKay four weeks later, when they’re all hunkered down in the yawning shadow of some crumbling ruins and Rodney looks at him, his eyes eerily bright in the darkness, sees the blood on John’s face, and says, “Oh.”

August

Unable to go through with the wedding Rodney McKay leaves Jennifer Keller at the altar. A stranger offers him a lift and things suddenly turn a lot more exciting
