Writing Itch

You know how you sometimes get an itch to read a very specific type of fic but can’t find it? And then you feel like you might have to write it yourself?

I’ve read more than a few fics where John becomes connected to Atlantis in a very tangible, avatar like way. And, like, I get that John has the super gene and all but I’ve always felt like Atlantis and Rodney were the OTP in that scenario. John may have the blood but Rodney has the heart.

I’ve been dying to find a fic that explores the idea of Rodney having that kind of connection. And now I feel like I’m in the tatto artist Rodney boat or the John aged by Wraith boat all over again and may have to write it myself.

Although it would be a miracle if I manage to write anything these days! ::head desks::

Yay! I just found my old pinboard site and I have a ton of really old fics bookmarked on there. Sometimes, like that one, the fic may not have migrated over to AO3, but it still on LJ. And sometimes, the LJ has been deleted but the fic is on AO3. :)

I can't think of anything, sadly. Though I keep thinking about that blackchaps fic where John becomes Atlantis' avatar, and when John is dying (in 38 Minutes, I think?) she tries to connect to Rodney.

I totally get you. I fully agree that Rodney is the heart of Atlantis, while John is the link between Atlantis and Rodney! I guess that's why Atlantis keeps trying to get them together! *g*

I love the idea of Atlantis having connections to both Rodney and John. Especially after Rodney got the gene therapy and was hit with the ascension device, it seems natural that she could really communicate with him, too, and that they'd bond. And he wants it so much... *rolls eyes* I'm such a softie for the boys getting the good things they want.

This fic might not exactly feature the Rodney-avatar you're looking for, but sentient Atlantis connects with both John and Rodney: We Now Return You To Your Regularly Scheduled Crisis by siegeofangels
