There is a significant lack of hurt Spock in the Spirk world and I don’t like it.

Hmmm, which do you like best, emotional or physical hurt?

I prefer physical hurt. What little hurt Spock I could find is usually of the emotional variety. Those damn Vulcans and their emotion! ;)

There's a whole category of Spock whump where bad things happen to his hands (or his mind!). Or Jim rejects their spontaneous bond and Spock nobly wastes away to nothing rather than explain.

But yeah, usually it's Jim being tortured or thrown over a cliff. I have read so many fics where Jim is forced to jump off a cliff.

Sometimes you’re lucky enough to want what the majority of fandom want and sometimes you’re not. A lesson I have learned many times!

Hurt Spock would be fascinating to explore. How would he process his pain? What would it take for him to admit he was hurting? What steps would he take to alleviate his pain? Would he willingly seek help from Kirk?

At first I thought, surely not, but then I had a look through my recs and *blink blink blink* boy there is all the Kirk whump. The closest thing I could find to hurt Spock was this (and it's more about the comfort): https://archiveofourown.org/works/714889. I think you are in fact correct, and that is a shame. Especially about the shirtlessness. ;)

If I was looking for Kirk whump then hoo boy, I’d be in heaven! I always find it strange when you love a pairing but your particular favourite character of the pairing is very much fandom’s lesser favourite, it’s like there’s all this fic but it’s just slightly off foryoir needs and wants, sighs.
