2018: 40-12

My usual humdrum of work, sleep, work was broken up a little bit this week with a trip through to Glasgow on Wednesday to see ELO perform. It’s the third time we’ve seen them since Jeff Lynne started touring again 4 years ago and it was a really fun night with lots of dancing and singing (or screeching) along to the high bits in the songs.

Only two more concerts left to go this year but we’ve got three booked for next year already.

I spent most of my downtime this week devouring The Foxhole Court trilogy by Nora Sakavic. The first book in the trilogy was free on kindle when I was browsing my recommendations so I figured I would give it a shot and was hooked in immediately. The two other books were only 99p each and I read all three of them over the space of three evenings. I loved them and can’t recommend them highly enough! I’ve already visited AO3 because I’m not ready to leave the universe behind and there’s lots of fic to read too. What the hell did I do before I discovered fanfic, lol?


Getting so into those books did cut into my writing plans a bit but I did a three hour long writing session on Saturday and made some really good progress with the first of my sgareversebang fics. Good news, it’s turning out less angsty than I had initially planned - that’s possibly a first for me! Not so good news (for me anyway) - I think there needs to be a sex scene. I’m a fan of the fade to black but I really think this fic needs one. That’s my goal for this next week, to get past that part which should let me finish the story off the following week. I’m cautiously estimating it at 10k when finished.

And then it will be time to start reversebang fic 2! That one will be angsty and much shorter so I’m hoping it won’t take long. Maybe just a couple of sessions. Fingers crossed.

I kinda liked the hot and heavy sexy times when I first started reading fanfic( Id honestly never really read porn before, nott even romance novels) so I was into it. Now I mostly scan thru, unless I’m really in the mood. But hey, if you can write something sexy, I’m sure it will be really great and just think, you’ll be expanding and growing as a writer. I’m going to be interested in the “less angsty” mood also. You do the angst, h/c better than anyone writing in the fandom now.

I love that you can go to so many concerts. It’s something that I very much miss. All the places we lived had concerts and theater and one place had really, really good community theater. I loved the Kennedy Center and was able to see some spectacular performances there. SIGH.

Yeah, I tend to skip sex scenes unless I’m in a certain mood if you know what I mean! And, wow, thank you for the compliment about my angsty h/c skills!

I’m sorry that you don’t get the chance to go to many concerts these days. I admit it’s a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine. If I added up how much I’ve spent on concerts and hotel stays I’d probably feel ill. We are very lucky to live in such a small country so even the London gigs aren’t that far away when compared to the distance people casually travel in the States!

Hee, hee, I do know what you mean, and I stand by my comment, you really give us all the feels with the boys. I can read a lot of stories that are really good, but not a lot of them affect me. Your writing stays with me.
