2018: 28-24

The usual drudgery of work - veg - sleep was interrupted slightly this week with me taking off work early on Wednesday to drive through to Glasgow to see Paul Simon. We saw him a couple of years ago when he toured with Sting and he was amazing then but he blew me away on Wednesday (despite him absolutely murdering Bridge Over Troubled Water, lol. I mean, I know he wrote the song but it’s not the same without Art Garfunkel singing it). The only down side of the night was that I forgot to take ibuprofen before the gig so my left knee was killing me after the first hour. I’ll definitely remember to take some before our next gig which is (at the moment) Brian Wilson in August.

We stayed overnight in Glasgow because I HATE driving on motorways at night but we left super early the next day as we both had work on the Thursday.

It’s still far too hot here and my energy feels like it’s been sapped. We’re supposed to be due some rain tomorrow and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it will clear the air.


Writing wise, I managed to do another fill for my Hurt/Comfort Bingo card. I think I need to be a bit more disciplined about my writing. I’ve always gone with words per day goals in the past but it hasn’t been working for me lately so I might try to set aside at least 45 minutes a day to write. If I have more time, great, but I need to get back into the habit of writing daily.

I also claimed two pieces of art for the sgarversebang. I got my second choice in the first round of claiming so went back and managed to get my first choice in the second round. Weirdly, I’m more excited about the story I have planned for my second choice! Let’s hope I’ve not bitten off more than I can chew!

There were six pieces in total that called out to me and I’m excited to see what other people do with them! I was also relieved to see that someone claimed my own attempt at art! I had visions of no one wanting it!

That was my biggest fear also. And I wasn’t anybody’s first choice ☹️ But I have to remind myself that it’s not necessarily that people hate what I offered, but need to be able to see a story in it. A story they can write

That’s it exactly! There was lots of great art but some were too vague for me to think of a story while others were too prescriptive, lol. I love that those same pieces obviously spoke to other people though! :)
