So, I might have a temporary promotion at work? I'm not 100% sure.

Our Director of Finance asked to have a word with me today about the absent (well, almost absent, she goes off on maternity in two days) Finance Manager post and the fact that the guy we hired to fill it bailed. We had been looking into getting some resources from our auditors to fill the position but apparently they were asking for £2k a week which is crazy. So, she says that one of the options they've come up with is have me Acting Up to the role but some of the duties will be shared out amongst other people because I have my own stuff to do to and would I be ok with that? I said yes and she said that she would speak to some people and make it more formal.

All great, right?

But then the head honcho from our auditors shows up at the office at quarter to five and shuts himself in the Directors office. They were still there when I left an hour later..

I guess I'll find out tomorrow whether they came up with a better offer and my offer has gone up in smoke.

Oh wow. Work issues are always nerve-wracking aren’t they. I think it would be fabulous if all of this turns into a promotion for you. I hope things work out the way you want them to. My mother often yearned to get out of her job as a college secretary and go on to a legal secretary, but she never did. I think she liked the people she worked with too much, and the fact that she worked very close to home. GOOD LUCK 🍀
