I'm so glad you avoided flooding. My little village in England has underground streams and several years ago we had such heavy rains that not only did the roads flood, the water rose up through the floors in some parts of the village so I do understand your concern. We have heavy rains here now, although it's been really mild, so it doesn't feel at all like Christmas.
