I was working from home this week and didn’t get anywhere near as much as I wanted done. Part of that was my own procrastination issues (I hate doing budgets, they are too insubstantial and based on assumptions, give me a set of accounts to do any day) and partly because there seems to be something about not being in the office that makes the staff I manage want to send me more queries than usual. My phone was buzzing constantly.

I did however start writing my Romancing McShep fic. It’s just a couple of scenes at the moment, not even in linear order which is really unlike me. As I’m researching the fic though I keep coming across things I want to include so I’ll jot stuff down, some of it is just notes and some are full fledged scenes. I’m looking forward to getting into the meat of it.

In other fest news, [community profile] sga_secretsanta opened for posting this week. I’ll need to get my butt in gear and organise mine for posting....or maybe I’ve already posted? Who knows? Let’s keep the mystery alive until the author reveals.

House wise, we got a taper in today to give us a quote for getting the cupboard that went in a few weeks back ready for painting. Despite saying he was just coming up to quote and wouldn’t be able to do the job until after Christmas he did the job today for us. He needs to come back tomorrow to sand once the filler etc has set but then that’s another job done! I may spend some evenings next week giving everything a coat or two of paint.

We also had more landscapers/builders come up to give a quote for the patio/retaining wall. They are all coming in much higher than the surprisingly low quote we received from the first company which is making me worry about that quote. I’m gonna email them next week and clarify their plans.

No quote yet for the chimney/harling after the guy was up last Saturday to look at what was needed. I’m not a very patient person when it comes to these sorts of things but I think two weeks is generally accepted as an ok time period to chase for quotes. With next weekend being the weekend before Christmas though I might try to be super patient and wait until January to follow that up.

Here’s to being another week closer to 2020 being done.

Well done you at getting started with your RomancingMcShep story. I still haven't heard back from my artist yet but as I've been finishing off my NCIS Secret Santa story it hasn't worried me, I do hope I hear soon. It won't stop me from starting to write the story though.

I'm like you, once I get the ball rolling I want to get whatever I'm doing sorted, I hate having to wait for people to get back to me, it is a busy time of year for people though, and I think everyone has gone mad here since lockdown was lifted, even if we are still in tier 2, although at the rate this county is going I can see us being in tier 3 next week.

I have to take my mother for her Covid vaccination tomorrow, it's all so new that it's a little scary as you just don't know how she'll react with all her medical issues, as there are always rare reactions but with the number of people who have already had it and only two reported issues with people with severe allergies we have to hope for the best.

I will be really glad when 2020 is over, I think once we're into 2021 and more people are having the vaccination we will, hopefully, all be feeling a little more positive for the slow return of some kind of normality. It's a light at the end of the tunnel anyway :)
