2018: 37-15
Sep. 16th, 2018 06:05 pmI spent most of the week trying to deal with the cash flow issues that came up last week, jumping through hoops for the board of one of our subsidiaries to secure a short term loan from them (that they already agreed in principle a few months ago). It was exhausting but I think we should be good.
Staffing wise, we are getting some help in from the company that does our audits, with the guy who normally does our maintenance company’s audit coming to work for us for the rest of the year. It will be good to have another guy in the office, we’re a very female heavy department (17 women and two men usually). A larger review still needs to be done but it’ll depend whether the manager that I’m covering for comes back from maternity leave which is by no means guaranteed. Watch this space I guess.
I’ve been saying for years that I want to learn a language for years but there aren’t really any suitable courses locally so I decided to try Duolingo. I’ve chosen German as a first attempt (don’t ask me why, I thought it might be easier than Spanish or French) and I’m really enjoying the challenge. It’s kind of addictive!
It was the opening of the new V&A design museum in my hometown this weekend and we had tickets for the opening event on Friday. It was a night of lots of music but because George had to work after we went down for the headliners only (Primal Scream) and left early so he could get to work for 11. I think I’ll leave it a week or two before visiting the museum itself but the building is stunning and the pictures I’ve seen of the interior look incredible!
A quiet Saturday and Sunday. George and I went out for a Sunday lunch and we’ve spent most of the afternoon lounging about. It’s been nice. He’s falling asleep right now while watching the Vuelta which is about right. Bless him, he tries to stay awake all Sunday after finishing work at 7am but it never works. Napping doesn’t work either though because he ends up being awake most of the night.
Night shift sucks.
I wrote a couple of short pieces for the fandomgiftbox exchange, crossed off another square on my hurt/Comfort Bingo And threw some more words at my sgareversebang fic.
I’m still not writing every day but I did more than just my usual Friday and Saturday sessions so that’s some progress. Aiming for four days this week!
