Ups and Downs

I just woke up from a nap, looked at my phone and got the alert that they called the election in Biden’s favour. Maybe I should nap more often? Although I still have some trepidation about what Trump’s gonna do next (obviously he’ll try and find a loophole to stay) I’m beyond thrilled, not just for my American friends but also for the world! If this could be a sign that the shit show that is 2020 is turning a corner that would be great.

That’s the up.

Now for the down.

A friend and colleague of mine lost their battle with cancer this week. She was 51, full of life and always the first person to offer help and support to anyone. She’s going to be missed by so many people and the fact that she won’t get the send off she deserves physically causes me pain.

Fuck cancer. And Fuck Donald Trump

Writing Update 1st - 7th Nov

goddess47 posted about mini_wrimo which seemed an excellent challenge to keep up the good work that I started in October with my Comfortween prompts to slide myself back into the habit of writing every day.

I signed up to do a minimum of 200 words a day and I’m pleased to report that I managed more than that every day this week. Not much more than that but I’m aiming for slow and steady here, especially because work is manic at the moment.

I’ve been working on my sga_secretsanta fic and I’m already at the 2k marker. I don’t know how long it will end up, I’m cautiously guessing 5k at the moment but who the heck knows. The editing process can change everything.

Still, I wrote every day this week and I’m not hating what I wrote so I count that as win.
