respoftw Work went well this week. Audit #3 is still ongoing (seriously, this lot of auditors NEVER stick to the schedule) but everything else is progressing nicely. The balance sheet for one of our other subsidiaries has been out by 3k since my colleague pulled the file together and nobody had been able to find where it had gone wrong, not my boss, not the other accountant and not even the auditors. I sat down to spend a morning trying to figure out what went wrong and found it in less than five minutes which actually felt really good. I’ll admit to preening a bit, lol.
I’ve had to put a load of overtime through for May because I’ve been working so much but the worst of it should be over now. Although I may have to help out my boss a fair bit because she’s really behind where she should be with our parent company accounts. I’ve already agreed to go to a meeting in Edinburgh for her on Tuesday and do Board papers for the subsidiary that I found the balance sheet difference on. It’s good though, I actually feel like I’m starting to earn the temporary raise that she gave me. (Which hasn’t worked out as well financially as I’d hoped because the increase kicked me into a higher tax bracket so I’m really not taking home that much more, oh well)
The weather continues to be too damn hot and sleeping has been intermittent at best. It’s too hot without the fan blasting air at me but the fan dehydrates the hell out of me and I wake up feeling awful. It rained a bit today though and the air feels fresher for it which is good.
I also finally got my bank account switched this week after all the banking issues that I was having a few weeks ago which is good.
I put a few hours aside on Saturday to write and after a few false starts which just kept turning to angst I managed to write and post something short and hopefully sweet. I really want to focus on longer fic now. Must try harder.
