MCD

I decided to create a series for all of my death fics on AO3. There’s only three in there so far but I know I’ll write more because sometimes I need to read or write it. Like, NEED to.

A Million Ways To Die In The Pegasus Galaxy

I’m never gonna reach a million fics but there will definitely be more. Maybe even my next one...

MCD fics are far and away the ones that get the least reads in my experience but sometimes nothing else will do. What about you guys? Do you ever read MCD or do you avoid it like the plague?

I've written a couple of MCD fics and, as you say, they are the least popular of what I've written.

I will read MCD fic, sometimes I have to be in the right mood to do so... I almost always cry... I do appreciate when they're properly tagged... I've tripped across a few fic with un-warned MCD, over time, and I'm divided. I appreciate the warning and generally need the head's up, but (as the argument goes) mainstream books don't warn for anything, and knowing a MCD may spoil the entire story. There's no good answer to it.

I try not to write MCD if I can avoid it, anymore... it takes a special mindset to do it, but I do agree that if it's where the story goes, that's where it goes.

I avoid them. Real life is stressful enough, and fandom is my escape, my happy place, so I tend to avoid things that will upset me. But I can see the value in those kinds of fics and I get why people like to read/write them.

I will read presumed dead, or miraculously returned fic, though! Sometimes you just want to cry, so I get my sad death with a happy ending lol.

If John, Rodney or the dog dies, you can just forget it. I just cannot handle that. Now if you want to kill off anyone else, fine and dandy. Same with Not-Really-Dead-but-everyone-thought-you-were.

I get it though, sometimes you need catharsis. For those times I have some looonnng, angsty, makes-me-cry stories that I try to read only when I need that feeling.

But I really like your idea, And the series header is great!

I read them and don't like spoilers. I wish there was a good solution because I know most people don't like to be unexpectedly punched in the gut like I do ;) It's not like I could just not read the tags because there's other stuff I don't want to read.I've never written one so I have no advice on how to tag. :)

Yes, I'd be looking forever if people didn't tag their angst fests!! :)

I do read it, but have to be in an okay space. If it's a particularly good writer I sometimes read the end first to gird my loins, then read the fic. Sometimes I handle it better as podfic. If there's podfic.
I've written it a couple of times. The main longer one is actually my 4th most popular fic, but then it does have tentacle sex!
