2020 In Fic
It's time for my yearly look at the statistics page on AO3.....
First Up, I know there are inherent issues with using the AO3 statistics page by year but I'm going with it for ease.
So, without further ado...here's some stats from my 2020 fics - Under a cut because this is genuinely of no interest to anyone but me!
38 fics posted
25,901 words written
3,031 kudos received
327 comment threads
188 bookmarks
14 subscriptions
16,389 hits - a kudos/hits ratio of 18.49%
This has been my least productive year word count wise since I started writing fic but, 2020, yo. I hope to prioritise writing more in 2021.
Most Hits
Reading Between The Lines at 1,220 hits. this makes sense as it was the first fic I posted in 2020.
Most Kudos, Comment Threads and Bookmarks
With Immediate Effect (my most recently posted fic?) at 173 Kudos, 27 comment threads and 41 bookmarks
Least Hits
Supernatural Problems at 201 hits
Least Kudos
it’s a tie between Supernatural Problems and I Need You To Know at 38 kudos each
Least Comment Threads
Winter Wonderland, Candy Overload and Supernatural Problems (again) are tied at just 2 comment threads each.
Least Bookmarks
A Long Soak, I Need You To Know and (I’m sensing a theme) Supernatural Problems all have 0.
Kudos/Hits Ratio
My least successful fic was my first fic of the year, Reading Between The Lines with only 12.54% of the hits generating a kudos
My most successful, with 25.29% of hits generating a kudos was my my final fic of the year, With Immediate Effect
Hmm, I wonder if this suggests that there are a lot of people “hitting” the fic multiple times but only being able to leave kudos once?
Finally, my own personal favourite fic that I wrote this year:
With Immediate Effect. Who knew writing Woolsey would be so much fun?

I know I've read Reading Between The Lines quite a few times this year, it's fab.
I posted 189484 words on AO3 in 2020. That's quite the achievement for someone whose relationship with words is historically tenuous at best. (Bad experience with an English teacher in high school nixed my passion for creative writing until I was 30).

I only got back into writing about 6 years ago, at the ripe age of 31 so we have that in common! My Dad was an English teacher and he always encouraged me in writing when I was wee and I used to write a lot as a kid. Then, around 13 or 14 I just kind of stopped....it was a joy to pick it up again and while it’s still a joy, I just don’t have the time to dedicate to it as much anymore.
I’m sorry you had an English teacher who put you off it.
One of my goals for 2021 is to make writing a habit again. Even if it’s only a half hour a day.

Half an hour a day is a good goal. :)
