2019: 16-36 Life Update
I’m still having bother with my back overnight but my new bed came yesterday and last night was better than the previous few so I’m hoping that the better support will let whatever I did to my back finally heal!
It’s been an absolutely gorgeously sunny weekend.
Unfortunately we didn’t get to enjoy it yesterday because of getting the new bed. George came home from night shift and dismantled our old one and I helped him shift the bedside tables and the old mattress out of the way in preparation for the new one. We had a three hour delivery window for the new bed and mattress and it arrived about an hour into it. Thankfully the delivery guys took everything upstairs so that saved us a job as the contract only promised delivery to our front door. We had to build it ourselves which was a hell of a job but we managed.
I love it so much. It’s bigger, it’s got storage built in and I’m really hoping it helps my back. We had so much packaging to get rid of once we were done that we decided to take a trip to the dump. My car wouldn’t fit the old mattress so I’ve had to put a ticket into the council for them to uplift that. Anyway, by the time all of that was done it was four pm and we were both knackered so it was pizza for tea and an early night.
We took advantage of the sunshine today though and headed across the water to St Andrews. A bit of walking, some ice cream and a fantastic lunch from our favourite sushi and bento box place was rounded out by playing tourist and going on one of those little land train town tours. It was really fun and I learned a lot about the history of the place which was cool.
Having two days off with George is so great. Not so great for my writing time but, hey, our relationship is more important!
Fandom wise, I spent most of last week and a chunk of this week flexing my beta muscles. I really enjoy acting as a beta on other people’s fics, even if I’m never sure how much is too much when it comes to suggesting edits or changes. It’s definitely something I wish I got to do more of!
I’ve not done any of my own writing in a couple of weeks but I’m planning to change that! My fandom 5K fic is going to be started this coming week. I’m venturing into OT4 land for it which is exciting!
Work wise....still sucks. Still getting promised this fancy new staffing structure which has yet to materialise....sigh
