It was the calm before the storm that’s known as quarter end at work this week. I made the most of it be going in late and leaving early in an effort to get my hours down. It made a nice change of pace.

I didn’t do much with my extra time but I’m feeling much more relaxed and ready for the craziness of the next few weeks. Because my colleague with cancer is still off we’ll have to do her tasks as well as our own...We’ll get through it somehow, we always do (although it would help,if she had wrote up her procedure notes like she was supposed to have done before March but hey ho).

Today was a good day. After the rain and winds caused by Storm Callum (not that it was that bad where I am) the sun came out today so we headed up the coast to Arbroath which was pretty but the air was smelling fouls thanks to all the seaweed that had washed up during the storms. Still, it was a nice day and you can’t beat fish and chips for a late lunch.

Despite the shorter days I didn’t get any writing done during the week but managed to fit in a couple of hours on Saturday. I met my goal of getting past the sex (well, frottage) scene in WIP #1 and am feeling confident I can finish it over the next week. I’m now thinking it might be less than 10k, maybe 8? Not sure if I’ll have time for beta but I don’t think that was a rule for sgareversebang so I’m hoping that’s ok....

WIP #2 (which has the same deadline as WIP #1, what the hell was I thinking?) will follow on after that but I’m cautiously optimistic I’ll meet the deadlines.

My productivity has gone down the toilet this year, mainly due to increasing pressures at work on the back of my promotion. I’ll be glad when my Manager comes back from maternity leave in January, hopefully it will help me have more time for writing because I love doing it.

I would love a trip to the coast. Even a smelly coast. We haven’t been in ages.

If you want, I am actually a very good beta. I’m fast and have a real eagle-eye (don’t judge me by my journal entries, I’m lax here)

I used to edit Max’s school papers and even helped son #3 publish a couple of scientific papers he published. Of course if you don’t want to bother, that’s cool too.
