I’ve had a great week! I know! Makes a change from my usual whining. I’ve been off work all week and so has George so spending some time together has been great. We were still in Edinburgh on Monday and went for breakfast and hung around Princes Street Gardens in the sun until it was time to get the train back home. Quick shower and change and then I went out for tea with my Mum and sister, both of whom I don’t get to see very often. It was a good night and we exchanged birthday presents as both mine and my sisters fall within 6 days of each other.
Tuesday was my actual birthday. I decided to treat myself to a night away at a small ‘hideaway’ (think small cabin like structure) on a farm a few miles outside of town. It’s a pretty genius business model for the farm and the hideaways (four of them total) are marketed to couples and everything is super high quality. I could write an enitre ode to the bath and the hot tub! It was a great night. If this is 35, I’m ok with it. The place we stayed also has a deal that if you book a second stay within 7 days of your first visit you get 20% off so we’re staying there two nights next week. I’ve bought up half of Lush in preparation, lol.
Wednesday was pretty quiet. We left the hideaway just before lunch and after a short walk around the hills we stayed in the house, catching up on laundry and boring crap like that!
Thursday and Friday were spent in much the same way. We went out to lunch one day and did some Pokemoning and penguin hunting. Watched some TV together which is a rarity. George got our gate out back stripped down and painted so it’s looking less like a rusty mess. We really need to do something about the slabs in our drive too. They really need weeded (or possibly replaced).
Yesterday, Saturday, we drive through to Perth which is our next closest city and had an amazing lunch at a small French restaurant there. It was the best food I’ve had in a long time. The sun was shining so we had a really nice walk along the river there.
It’s been pissing down with rain all day today so it’s been a bit of a Netflix and duvet day. I watched the latest Netflix romcom and loved it. It’s been a super chill week and I’m feeling so much more mentally healthy for it.
I managed to find some time during one of our chiller days to write and post a short Hurt/Comfort fill (11 down, 14 to go) and threw some more words at my sgareversebang fic. I’m hoping to get some writing done at my hideaway next week.

I think it’s fun that you and your sister have birthdays so close. My birthday is a few days away and 3 sons have birthdays right after. Wham bam!
