Our new agency worker started at work this week. She seems nice enough and asked a lot of good questions as I was taking her through things so I’m hoping she works out. Part of me does wish that we had waited until after year end to bring her in though. I mean, having an extra pair of hands at busy time seems great on the face of it but when you consider the fact that I spent 14 hours this week teaching her the system and still have things to go over with her, 14 hours in which I could have been working on my to do list....I’m really not looking forward to the next two months. My next week off work is the last week of June, after which things should calm down a fair bit; I just need to survive until then.
George and I did a fair bit of pokemoning this weekend. I’m really loving the latest update with the research tasks. Getting a chance at Moltres, a legendary Pokemon after completing the first week of challenges was fantastic. I’m a little disheartened about the special research to get Mew considering I know that one of the stages is to evolve a Magikarp. I literally just got enough candies to evolve my first magikarp the day before the research update happened. It had taken me six fricking months to get enough candies to do it ::bangs head against desk:: still, I have to find a Ditto first and seeing as I’ve only found five of them in the eight months I’ve been playing I know I’m not getting past that stage any time soon! George had already found a ditto AND he had enough candies for the magikarp evolution so I’m sulking a bit over that, lol.
This time of year usually goes one of two ways for me, I either write tons as a way to unwind after work or I write nothing because I’m too tired. Going by this week, It might be the former rather than the latter this time around. I managed to write and post three short fics this week. I really want to sink my teeth into something longer and meatier but I’m struggling to find the right idea. I’m also blocked as hell on Three’s Company so I’m consciously taking a break from that for the moment.
I got my fandom5k assignment today and it looks like I’ll be making my first foray back into the Stormpilot fandom in a while in order to fill it. I’m actually looking forward to that, I really enjoyed that fandom and it was only the lack of new canon material to keep my interest that made me stop writing for it. I think that’s why I will always prefer tv fandoms to movies, there’s just so much more source material to dig into!
The cycling season is up and running again (the Paris-Rubaix is on the TV while I type this) so it might be time to seriously think about my cycling AU McShep fic again....
